Randeep Hooda's First Look in Swatantra Veer Savarkar: On 28th May is the 139th birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. On this joyous occasion, the makers of the film have released the first look of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in the film featuring the powerful character. Randeep Hooda is in that role in the film. The poster of the film reads, 'Hindutva is not a religion, it is history'. The film is going to hit the theatre in August 2022.
Producer of the film Sandeep Singh said, “At a time when films featuring Harshad Mehta, Vijay Mallya, and Lalit Modi are in trend, I am more interested in telling the life story of Veer Savarkar Ji. He was the first dynamic hero of India and the only person who could save the partition of the country in 1947.
So through this film, I want to tell the world facts about Savarkar's struggle not only as a filmmaker but most importantly as an Indian. His courageous efforts for independence, his fearless personality to intimidate the British, and his commitment to Hindutva till his last breath are very inspiring.
Although he is the most misunderstood hero. Now it is high time that we understand him and celebrate his rebel attitude. He never got the status he deserved and therefore, I request that Savarkar should be honored with Bharat Ratna and Nobel Prize.
Producer Anand Pandit shared, “Randeep Hooda has showcased his skills as an actor time and again and moreover, has shown that he can transform into the role he plays. But in the case of Savarkar, he has a striking resemblance to the freedom fighter. They also have added mobility. I have been a lover of history and am excited to have the cinematic privilege to bring to the 70mm screen the story of a leader whose story deserves to be told.
Director Mahesh Manjrekar says, “People may have different perceptions of Savarkar, but as a filmmaker, I am trying to match the same idea that Savarkar had. Hence, in the film, I have kept the same thought that Savarkar had in real life. He was the iconic freedom fighter. Our aim is that no Indian should forget him.
Actor Randeep Hooda shared, "With this film, we are saluting the most iconic but unsung freedom fighter of the freedom struggle. I hope I can tell the long stifled incredible story of the true revolutionary of that high stature in history." I will be able to show it on screen.
